Sorgho Baptist Church is an SBC congregation located in rural Daviess County about 8 miles west of Owensboro, KY. The church was established by congregants from our sister church Pleasant Grove in 1884 in the Gilded Age and previous Golden Age of late Victorian Baptist life. The first pastor was the Rev. D.B. Miller. Fire destroyed the first church building in 1923 after having been there since 1889. The educational annex was built in 1950. The church celebrated the grand centennial and groundbreaking of the building last year in 2023 with the Rev. Larry Burkhead who retired recently.

Our contractual confessions are the Baptist Faith and Message of 2000; we are governed by any legitimate English Protestant canons of Holy Scripture (KJV, NKJV, ESV, NASB). Our church also has a constitution with special by-laws that govern us through the Bible as well.

Currently, we are trying to revitalize our church and we have a seminarian pastor-theologian, two deacon-elders and their perspective wives, and a loving, God-fearing, joyful congregation of warm-hearted, pious people!
